Driving Green

Now that the first real snow storm of the season has hit, I thought it might be a good time to talk about green vehicles (cars, trucks, etc,). Even people who hate SUVs might have second thoughts during a week like this.

Is there a "Green" choice for winter-ready vehicles? Does an event like this storm prove that if used appropriately -- SUV are not that bad?

Hybrids are available in compact SUVs. Pickups are avialble in CNG, E85 and hybrids. All-Wheel drive cars are available (Surburu, Audi). Green life choices can be made.

Lets talk about it. Tell me what you think.

I drive a hybrid and I just love it! Bad weather is just something you deal with. It would be the same for someone with a sport cars or rear wheel drive car.

An SUV is a tool and like most tools they should only be used for specific tasks. Snow and off road is what they were design for anyway. I am lucky enough to have more than one car so I do not have to drive mine everyday (Gas!). But I am loving it this week!

I went to test drive the Ford Escape Hybrid because I have dogs and need the space -- I never got off of the lot. Just sitting in it waiting for the dealer tag was enough to make my arse numb. It was SOOOO uncomfortable. I do love the Prius though .. just not enough room to cart around 100+ lb Rottie and his friends.
